Do I NEED malaria medication (Malarone) for Nicaragua?

Well actually, primaquine is the recommended drug now if you are going to an area of the country where malaria is a risk. But if cost is an issue or if you do not want to undergo the required blood test before taking this drug, doxycycline is just as effective as malarone and much cheaper, if you have no medical reasons not to take it.
