How to treat a rash caused by chemotherapy?

My boyfriend just started a new chemo that has caused him a severe pimply rash on his face and upper body. The doctors recommended an otc wash and a prescription cream and pill. Its too soon to tell if they are working but what can he do to releive some of the dryness and pain? He also has what looks like dried burns on the lashline and his eyebrows. Any help appreciated
