Is it normal for a Doctors Office to charge to fill out a prior consent form?
I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD and the Doctor wrote me a prescription for Adderall XR. I went to fill it and was told that my insurance company refused to cover it. I call them to ask why and they claimed they needed and additional bit of paperwork known as a "Prior Consent Form" in order til cover it and faxed it to my Doctors office. I called today and the receptionist told me that it had been received but that there would be a 50.00 charge to fill it out. Apparently it's 3 pages long. 17.00 a page? really? Is this normal? I feel like I am being shaken down to get my medication.
